Not sure if it's a permanent one, but I will miss my Xanga.

| Today I became one of the many victims of the social epidemic called
Fitness First-itis. Unlike many others, I have a very good reason other
than wanting to be healthy and to look good. I get to use their
facilities for free. Free gym membership is covered by my company, and
since I've got my bitch Ben to help train me, I'd be stupid NOT to
start working out. Heh. Anyway that's a few reasons there already.
My arms are so weak I struggled to lift my hands for long enough when
shampooing my hair earlier. Tomorrow's gonna be even worse. Grrrr. Ah
well.
Aside from that, nothing else interesting is happening. Apart from work
which starts on Monday. Which means the holiday ends on Sunday. At
least I'm starting at 11...

| I finally had a recovery session last night. Slept for 12 hours. Yea.
Some irritants in the middle of it, obnoxious people talking loudly. I
swear I would have had a right go if not for my inability to release
myself from the fixated horizontal state I was in.
Meeting up with Ben again was really good; as was going to CityLife
Hobson's Bay with Liz, Joy and T. And now I can actually pull the
church card when I ask for the Sunday off at work. Heh.
I've been shopping like a madman. It's been slightly uncontrollable.
But to be fair, I think I've covered back most of it from that night at
the casino. Which brings us to that delightful night. I'm starting to
think that I am pretty good at blackjack. But knowing my luck, I think
I'll probably lose money the next time I go. And then more, after that.
The English call it 'putting on the mockers'. The kiss of death. But
still, I am allowed to enjoy the night , as well as the money!
I was already ~$100 up, and hence decided to just punt on getting a
pair. That was the only time during the night that I put a fiver
(usually just $1) on a "Perfect Pairs" bet. The odds were this: 6 to 1
for a mixed coloured pair, 12 to 1 for a pair of the same colour, and
25 to 1 for an identical pair. Now this is just pure speculative luck;
my thinking I'm good is more to do with the fact I'd got to the point
where I decided I could afford a fiver on a random punt. And to cut a
long story short, 25 * 5 = $125...
Next time I go to the casino (should be a long time to come, probably
when mom and dad are here), I'll make sure it's on the back of good
rest, so I can maximise my wins (or lose all my money), and not feel
like I gotta go because I can't concentrate anymore. But then again,
it's a double edged sword, like most things are.
6 days to go before I start work.

| Alright. Best thing that's happened to me since I graduated: I'm employed. All those
hours spent panicking during preps, and eventually failing at past
interviews have all led up to this moment. Or not.
Anyway, the details:
Starting in 2 weeks, as an Electronic Discovery Analyst. How spiffy is
that title! Well it's actually *just* a database analyst role.
The best part about the job is: I actually have a *valid* reason to buy
nice clothes! Next best thing, the hours: 11am -> 7pm. Not so great,
but still a big perk: I get one weekday off. The only tiny drawback: I
have to work on either a Saturday or a Sunday. Hopefully I'll be able
to pick my shift; at this point I definitely want the Sunday and Monday
off, for various reasons:
- Saturday night football + Sunday arvo + night football...
- The option of going to church...

- No Monday blues...
Of course, that would mean no Friday nights and no Saturday arvo social life. Definitely can live with that.
Celebratory sessions will be organized; wine/whisky + Cubans with
Mr.Man. Boozing binge with the uni boys. And big fat dinner with
everyone else...
Am I overreacting? For sure. There are many things more important in
life, and many more to come. But for now, I'd like to indulge in the
moment and not give a flying f*** about what other people think.
Some interesting (no, not really) little points:
- First person to see the offer letter - Winnie (we read it together!)
- First person I hung out with after getting the offer - Dave (Happy Birthday Dave!!!)
- First item spent on - the remaining payment of $105 of the total
cost of $155 for my stylish Freshjive shorts. To the Yarra City Council. F*ck.
- Number of text messages sent today- 23
- Number of phone calls made - who knows? (can't be bothered checking)
- Number appearing on the phone bill this month - $79 (I knew the cap would come in handy!)
- Figure in the balance of my bank account after the weekend - I hope it doesn't have a negative sign in front of it!
Finally, a shout out to...
- My parents who only know how to love me, I owe you everything.
- My
amazing friends who kept me sane, how can I ever thank you enough? You
know who you are. You've all been my comfort zone, my safety net.
- Everyone has a leprechaun, and I'm no different: Karan who hooked me up left, right and center! Thanks buddy...
- The fella upstairs, You are my lifeline. The friend & guardian
who's always there, looking out for me. I am truly humbled...
Xanga has actually improved their interface, as evidenced in the
silly overusage of bullet points in this post. The wheels were
in motion to switch to Blogger, but well done Xanga, you've kept a
user. Not that it makes any difference, considering I still haven't
signed up for the premium membership.
