Fitness First-itis. Unlike many others, I have a very good reason other
than wanting to be healthy and to look good. I get to use their
facilities for free. Free gym membership is covered by my company, and
since I've got my bitch Ben to help train me, I'd be stupid NOT to
start working out. Heh. Anyway that's a few reasons there already.

My arms are so weak I struggled to lift my hands for long enough when
shampooing my hair earlier. Tomorrow's gonna be even worse. Grrrr. Ah
well.

Aside from that, nothing else interesting is happening. Apart from work
which starts on Monday. Which means the holiday ends on Sunday. At
least I'm starting at 11...

[my friend has on his MSN nick: if your surname is Lee, don't ever name your kid King Kok]
Sunday, November 20, 2005

I finally had a recovery session last night. Slept for 12 hours. Yea.
Some irritants in the middle of it, obnoxious people talking loudly. I
swear I would have had a right go if not for my inability to release
myself from the fixated horizontal state I was in.

Meeting up with Ben again was really good; as was going to CityLife
Hobson's Bay with Liz, Joy and T. And now I can actually pull the
church card when I ask for the Sunday off at work. Heh.

I've been shopping like a madman. It's been slightly uncontrollable.
But to be fair, I think I've covered back most of it from that night at
the casino. Which brings us to that delightful night. I'm starting to
think that I am pretty good at blackjack. But knowing my luck, I think
I'll probably lose money the next time I go. And then more, after that.
The English call it 'putting on the mockers'. The kiss of death. But
still, I am allowed to enjoy the night , as well as the money!

I was already ~$100 up, and hence decided to just punt on getting a
pair. That was the only time during the night that I put a fiver
(usually just $1) on a "Perfect Pairs" bet. The odds were this: 6 to 1
for a mixed coloured pair, 12 to 1 for a pair of the same colour, and
25 to 1 for an identical pair. Now this is just pure speculative luck;
my thinking I'm good is more to do with the fact I'd got to the point
where I decided I could afford a fiver on a random punt. And to cut a
long story short, 25 * 5 = $125...

Next time I go to the casino (should be a long time to come, probably
when mom and dad are here), I'll make sure it's on the back of good
rest, so I can maximise my wins (or lose all my money), and not feel
like I gotta go because I can't concentrate anymore. But then again,
it's a double edged sword, like most things are.

6 days to go before I start work.
Best thing that's happened to me since I graduated: I'm employed. All those
hours spent panicking during preps, and eventually failing at past
interviews have all led up to this moment. Or not.

Anyway, the details:

Starting in 2 weeks, as an Electronic Discovery Analyst. How spiffy is
that title! Well it's actually *just* a database analyst role.

The best part about the job is: I actually have a *valid* reason to buy
nice clothes! Next best thing, the hours: 11am -> 7pm. Not so great,
but still a big perk: I get one weekday off. The only tiny drawback: I
have to work on either a Saturday or a Sunday. Hopefully I'll be able
to pick my shift; at this point I definitely want the Sunday and Monday
off, for various reasons:

Saturday night football + Sunday arvo + night football...

The option of going to church...

No Monday blues...

Of course, that would mean no Friday nights and no Saturday arvo social life. Definitely can live with that.

Celebratory sessions will be organized; wine/whisky + Cubans with
Mr.Man. Boozing binge with the uni boys. And big fat dinner with
everyone else...

Am I overreacting? For sure. There are many things more important in
life, and many more to come. But for now, I'd like to indulge in the
moment and not give a flying f*** about what other people think.

Some interesting (no, not really) little points:

First person to see the offer letter - Winnie (we read it together!)

First person I hung out with after getting the offer - Dave (Happy Birthday Dave!!!)

First item spent on - the remaining payment of $105 of the total
cost of $155 for my stylish Freshjive shorts. To the Yarra City Council. F*ck.

Number of text messages sent today- 23

Number of phone calls made - who knows? (can't be bothered checking)

Number appearing on the phone bill this month - $79 (I knew the cap would come in handy!)

Figure in the balance of my bank account after the weekend - I hope it doesn't have a negative sign in front of it!

Finally, a shout out to...

My parents who only know how to love me, I owe you everything.

My
amazing friends who kept me sane, how can I ever thank you enough? You
know who you are. You've all been my comfort zone, my safety net.

Everyone has a leprechaun, and I'm no different: Karan who hooked me up left, right and center! Thanks buddy...

The fella upstairs, You are my lifeline. The friend & guardian
who's always there, looking out for me. I am truly humbled...

Xanga has actually improved their interface, as evidenced in the
silly overusage of bullet points in this post. The wheels were
in motion to switch to Blogger, but well done Xanga, you've kept a
user. Not that it makes any difference, considering I still haven't
signed up for the premium membership.
Sunday, November 13, 2005

I've never wanted anything as badly. I think about you night and day. I
can't stop but wonder what I'd do if I miss out on this glorious
opportunity. I tell my friends about you, and they're willing me on. I
feel it in my bones, but I dare not say anything for fear of ruining my
chances. It's not an exaggeration; you're a pivotal point in my life. A
milestone, a prize, and a lifeline. Without doubt, the glimmer of hope
that's kept me going in the past weeks. I pray it's fate, I know I'm
setting myself for a fall. I am vulnerable.

Dear God, if it's meant to be, give me the strength to pull through. If
it's not, then catch me, 'cause this is gonna be one hard and painful
drop.

Tomorrow morning, at 10am. On the precipice I will stand. The leap of faith, the defining moment, the date with destiny.

Thursday, November 10, 2005

It's a WEIRDDDD day. I love the rain and the cool. However, today I wish it were sunny and warmer.

My yummmmmy banana bread and butter pudding has gone mouldy I think. Or
rather, the bananas. I'm not too sure. They usually darken in colour
after a couple days, but earlier when I wanted to have it for brunch,
they looked a little mouldy. Looks like I'll have to make another one
again. This time I'm adding something new. Peanut butter maybe.

Anyway, I'm a little off today. In the head. More than usual. Think it's the lack of sleep. A severe lack of sleep.

I feel like a steak. Winnie's eating Maggi Asam Laksa. She smuggled it
into her room. I can smell it. But I don't want instant noodles. I want
a big juicy steak. With mushroom sauce. Ooooh yummmmzzz.

Dave, thanks for entertaining me on the phone. I bet you can't remember
that we even talked. Chad, pick up your phone. I don't care if you were
having an exam, it's not right. I'll let you off if you disclose the
treadmill secret.

Oh, I'm trying to flog off my mini. Any takers? It's going for AUD150.
I take bloody good care of my stuff; anyone who's seen my gorgeous Sony
T1 couldn't tell it was over a year old. Likewise the mini. I'm want
the new 30G 5th Gen iPod. The black one. To match my K750.

Finally, I'm NOT watching that DVD. Rather, it's just up there to serve
as a reminder to all condescending twats (British journos and Chelski
ponces) who keep belittling my favourite team. Not that they'd read or
care. But seeing as this is a whack and random post, thought I'd put it
in for good measure. Adds to the word count, and the randomness of the
post.
Sunday
night was just agony; about as little rest as I've gotten in a while.
It's not necessarily the quantity, it's actually the quality! Thought
I'd have a short nap just now, ended up getting a good 3 hours of sleep
with my hair product still on.

I don't know if it's weird but I can't sleep if I haven't had a proper
shower. And defo not if I haven't washed my feet. Or my face. But then
I've been known to be obsessive about stuff like this.

Moving on. Listening to Alicia Keys' debut album again, one thing
really stands out. Her vocals are so much stronger in her later work;
she's definitely evolved into a better singer and performer, for sure.

And for U2 fans, wait for this...they are gunning to make it to
Melbourne in time for the closing ceremony of the 2006 Commonwealth
Games. And it was reported that Bono sent out congratulations to the
Diva team last week, also asking if he could see the mare the next time
he was in Australia.

Lastly; terror attacks thwarted. Or not. When you are battling a force
as strong as this, a setback usually results in retaliation of bigger
scale. Still, it's a welcome relief albeit a temporary one. Welcome,
nonetheless...
I just KNEW she was gonna win the Cup.
Should have just put the money in at 12ish, but there was some news
about her probably being scratched from the race. If ever there was a
banker, this was it. At odds of 3.90 for one, this was a sure-fire way
to earn some quick bucks.

I blame having to get up at fricken 6.30am. A total lack of sleep.
Sore, sore feet from football on Sunday, and tennis yesterday.

20 x 3.9 = 78 i.e. the opportunity to win 58 dollars was gone. I'm not
going to break down what I could win with the $58, to spare you's all...
So I have now. Ladies & Gentlemen, introducing Chad moments...

MSN dialogue about time difference between England and Melbourne:

": alex : says:
3pm = 12am

chad says:
okies

: alex : says:
but time changes at 2am here

chad says:
wait need to count now

chad says:
give me a sex"

WTF!!!
